Caffeine is found in many places -coffee, tea,
fizzy drinks, chocolate and pain killers. There is some evidence to
suggest that caffeine affects conception and fertility. Switch gradually
to herbal teas and plain water. Decaffeinated coffee still contains
toxins!
Alcohol inhibits the absorption of some essential
nutrients e.g. zinc. Research also shows that excessive alcohol has
been linked to increased miscarriage. Sorry party nights are over
for a while!
What a horrible habit, filling your body full of
toxins, do you need to know anymore! Also remember if you do get pregnant
and smoke your unborn child is taking in all of your poisons. If you
do smoke, try taking a good antioxidant, see our section on targeted
nutrition. Take a visit to the National
Asthma Campaign site to find out more about giving up smoking.
You can also go to ASH.
Try to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day.
Water helps to flush out toxins and keep our organs health and lubricated.
If you can't manage it all as plain water why not try herbal tea.
Stress not only affects you chances of getting
pregnant but will cause tension in the relationship. Try something
like reflexology or yoga.
If you are on medication, discuss this with your
doctor and see if there some which are non essential for a time. Some
drugs may dry up your cervical fluid.
If you suspect or already have any medical problems
which you think may affect your fertility please consult your doctor.
E.g. endometriosis, fibroids, PCOS polycystic ovary syndrome.
